The Williams family and I had fun on a chilly morning in April at the Kstate Gardens. We were able to get a lot of cute photos in a quick 30 minute session. Maggie had just gotten her blue glasses. Don't they fit her perfectly! It reminded me of when I was her age and so proud of my red glasses. I loved meeting this awesome family!
If you would like to book a family session like the Williams, please email me at email@example.com. Right now my summer is booked, mainly with my role as cook, chauffeur, and party planner for my three boys. Some of my fall schedule is open. My plan is to do studio sessions on Tuesdays and leave Wednesdays for backup, then do outdoor or in home lifestyle sessions on Thursdays and have Fridays for backup. I figure I take my boys out of school for dentist and doctor appointments; I'd take them out for a quick photo session. If you would like to know when I open my full fall schedule, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and type Opt In. I will add you to my email list. If you are ready to book a session, please go to amymengphotography.as.me/
Happy Friday! Hope you all are enjoying today's weather! I tried to soak up some sun this afternoon before it turns cold.
The Shoot and Share Photo Contest Team just sent a video. It is amazing. Vivi created this video for me just for entering the contest. It included the 15 images that received awards, plus some extras. Enjoy!
My spring session schedule is updated!

I hope everyone had a fantastic 4th of July! We enjoyed our time outside with our wonderful neighbors! It has been a busy spring and summer for Amy Meng Photography's studio. I am loving all the babies that have visited me lately. Since I have been bad about blogging, I thought I would share a few photos from all the sessions with you.
National Park Service - America's Best Idea! I truly believe this. We took a trip last summer from Kansas to California and back, and along the way visited almost a dozen parks. We were able to take a break from life and experience great beauty as a family. These are memories I will cherish forever. Thank you National Park Service!!!
Aww, the joy of getting the perfect sibling shot, where they are close and looking at the camera.
Except sometimes, I need to use some photography magic to get that shot.
With active little guys, sometimes I need to take two pictures and make them into one. I knew I could do this with this shot, because the background was neutral and the lighting was the same. I kept the box in the same position. Then I placed the boys where I wanted them in the picture. To get the big guy to look at me, I asked him to show me his teeth. Then with a little skill, time, and photography magic, I was able to create the shot. What do you think?
I was excited to get to photograph baby Reagan in my studio. For me and I hope for the family, it is easier having a studio to photograph a newborn. All of my backgrounds, lighting, and props, are ready when the family arrives, making the sessions go much more smoothly. Plus the parents do not have to clean their house for me to take pictures in their home. I know that would be the last thing I would want to do after just giving birth. I am truly blessed that I could convert our nursery for our three boys into a space where I can capture special moments for families with their little ones.
I had a great time opening up my studio for baby Benjamin. What a happy little boy! My favorite moment of the session was when his mommy gave him a kiss and he turned and gave her a big kiss right back. I am so glad I was able to capture these precious moments for their family..

I love books, especially children's books. I love the stories, the message, and the silliness. . I think my greatest moments with my children have been when we would sit together and read books. As a stay at home mom, this was the one activity I did not mind doing over and over again. With my first son, we had very few books, so The Foot Book, Mr Brown Can Moo, Can You? and Oh the Places You Go have been permanently etched into my memory. When my husband deployed, we recorded him reading books and would give our son a new book every week, for him to enjoy with his dad on TV. Still makes me cry when I see some of those books. Now as the kids are older, we look forward to our DEAR time before bed, where we drop everything and read, then we do an Examen prayer and listen to an excellent audio book, The Land of Stories by Chris Colfer. It is an activity that my teenage to preschool boys all enjoy. Since books have been important to me as a parent, I like to capture these moments for my clients as well. I love capturing the closeness that a book brings.
